The retail is one of the most interesting Reno commercial markets to look into. The retail vacancy can be linked with a lot of other market factors such as housing statistics as well as taxable sales. While the Reno/Sparks retail market has seen some major stores open up in the past few years, overall vacancy for the 2nd quarter 2011 was between 16.8% and 17.8% which is mostly up from the previous quarters. Average retail asking rents are around $1.35 to $1.42 which is down from the previous quarter. Most companies have not reported their 3rd quarter stats but there is a flurry of activity that should change a lot of these numbers including the new Walmart off Lemon Valley Dr and several new retailers in the Legends at Sparks Marina.
